Relatonship between family members could be strained for many reasons. The most common one is allowances. Many of us believe that money makes us happy and think that all problems in their lives will disappear if they had enough money. In this case, the son sees money as building blocks for his future. He is not wrong. We don't use stones to pay for studies, wedding packages. His dad's request for allowance is not unreasonable too if he does not have other source of income.

My Suggestions
Both should sit down to talk on the allowance issue amicably. The issue should not be whether to give or not, but what's a reasonable and acceptable amount for all?

My personal view
Money is not the root of all evil But GREED FOR MONEY IS. MONEY IS IMPORTANT BUT IS NOT EVERYTHING ! Most reasonable future needs can be met with sound financial planning. Strained family relationship only stresses you more emotionally. Think returning to a home of resentment.? Is that what you want?
